India Briefings
India Briefings is an initiative of the veteran NRI journalist Dr Vijay Rana, the former radio editor of the BBC Hindi Service.
He set up NRIfm.com, one of the Internet’s first Indian talk radio in 2003. Beyond from Bollywood music this radio was dedicated to producing some of best audio and video content dedicated to Indian art, culture and heritage. Besides being one of the UK’s most popular Indian websites, this was the first web-radio dedicated to the NRI community across the world.
Dr Vijay Rana has also written extensively for prestigious journals and newspapers like the Indian Express, India Today, The Times, BBC Online and several Hindi newspapers, like Danik Jagaran, Prabhat Khabar, Danik Hindustan.
He has produced four documentary films for Doordarshan.
He has been filming the city of Varanasi since February 2017 and has recently produced a documentary called Banaras: The Story of India’s Sacred City.
As part of his community charity work, he has been editing and publishing a hugely popular free community wellbeing magazine, Health & Happiness 4 You for the last nine years.
During the Johannesburg Vishwa Hindi Sammelan in 2012, he received a Government of India award honouring his contribution to Hindi journalism.
